this was for a ccmixter project a few years ago that came to nothing...I was just thinking about it this morning and wanted to hear it again. hope you're feeling it.

everything, all at once!

I am not sure Sean Scully makes complete sense with this argument, but I can relate to the idea that he tries to make 'everything happen, all at once'...we definitely play with time and space. compressing and stretching to create rhythms and sensations that relate to what we are attempting to communicate. ultimately a painting is a moment, luckily our perception of that moment is always changing.

IP OP

in relation to that last post...while I was watching it, it reminded me of some work I started earlier this year. 'two part' paintings. basically influenced by the INHERITANCE WAX idea I am also working on right now. I should get back to these at some point though, the idea of having an interactive painting is interesting to me. I am also into the way the edges get messed up with time with paper and card.
it's a really bad quality image, but gives you an idea.

Passion Pit-Sleepyhead from ssarenofun1 on Vimeo.

PASSION PIT are HOT right now.
these guys names keep coming to my ears and this video of theirs is cool. I like simple ideas, that are pretty low budget/low key that are able to capture your interest for a few minutes and present a fresh visual. this works.
check it.
the circle IS the new square...haha.

peace.

BOB JAMES rocks!!!!!

this is a classic BOB JAMES cut that has every part of it sampled and looped up to produce some of the dopest hip hop ever. you could do a thesis on this tune and the influences to have come out of it.
AMAZING!
'course, if you love hip hop, I defy you to listen to this and then not reach for the DAYTONA 500!

ASHWAN GHOST!!!!

Guru ft. BOB JAMES and Common

definitely having a BOB JAMES moment...well, actually lasted a couple of days so far.

enjoy.
